(More customer reviews)To me the 'French' in French Onion Soup means with melted cheese on top. Otherwise it is just Onion Soup. This is not easy to do with just any soup bowl since a) the melted cheese should cling (attach itself) to the sides of the bowl and b) since the last step is baking the soup in the bowl in the oven, a handle is really necessary. This bowl is the right size and shape.
I was doubtfull when ordering because of the low price but both bowls (came as a set of two) were perfect.
I wasn't too interested in the bowls having lids but they are a nice addition to keep the soup hot from serving until eaten and helps keep the cheese melted. I recommend this set.
